Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Casual and Daily Wagers Forum (JKCDF), Tuesday welcomed the government’s announcement to form a committee for formulating a roadmap for addressing issues of daily-wagers.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), president of the JKCDF, Sajad Ahmad Parray said that they were expecting a favourable decision in the budget instead of formation of a committee to chalk out the roadmap. “However, we welcome the constitution of a panel as we know the government has limited powers in the Union Territory. We want this committee to complete all the process and compile the report at the shortest possible time as every data is already available with the authorities.”
Parray said that the government should take the employees on board before making any decision as they want to ensure that the daily wagers, casual labourers, land donors, seasonal employees and other employees don’t face any problems.
He said that the government should immediately implement the Minimum Wages Act in Jammu and Kashmir and chalk out a road map for the regularization of employees.
Pertinently, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today announced the constitution of a committee headed by the Chief Secretary to work out a roadmap for addressing issues of daily-wagers. “The committee comprising officials from different departments will find out the number of daily-wagers as well as to what legally and financially could be done for them.”—(KNO)
